I-40 off ramp at Unser reopens after pedestrian-involved crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Officers responded to a crash that shut down the northbound Unser off ramp of I-40 on Friday.

Police say it was a vehicle versus pedestrian collision, and that the pedestrian was transported to UNM Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Westbound I-40 remained open but the ramp closures caused heavy congestion. Drivers exiting at Unser were asked to seek alternate routes.

The Unser off ramp has since reopened.

The offender that struck the pedestrian fled the scene and was later located. He is currently in custody being questioned, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.

Police say the preliminary investigation reveals that possible road rage contributed to this incident.
