Navy sailors, divers visit Presbyterian Children's Center for 'Navy Week'

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Patients at the Children’s Center at Presbyterian got a sweet surprise from our men and women in uniform.

As part of Navy Week, local sailors and divers from San Diego spent the day visiting with sick kids and their families.

They got to show them some pictures, bring them toys, and keep them company.

“We love to come out to the hospitals and see the kids and it’s just really rewarding and enriching, and just some way to give back to the community,” said Lt. Jason Fischer.

The “Navy Week” program has served as an outreach effort into areas of the country that do not have a significant Navy presence.
