ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jaydon Chavez-Silver’s accused killer was arraigned on Friday.
Esias Madrid, 18, is accused of shooting the Manzano High School student in a drive-by in June of 2015. Madrid was arrested after another suspect in the case took a plea deal and agreed to provide information. That suspect pointed the finger at Madrid, prompting Madrid’s arrest last month.
Friday a judge set his bond at $1.5 million cash only.
Just like all the other hearings, Jaydon’s mother was there.
“It’s been emotionally exhausting. It’s been over a year and they schedule the trial a year out from today, another whole year, but we promised until Jaydon got justice we could not stop,” said Jaydon’s mom, Nicole Chavez-Lucero.
Madrid is also facing charges for allegedly killing a man over a game of beer pong, just months after Jaydon’s murder.
