AAA offers vacation destinations close to home and across the pond

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As we prepare to feel the first taste of fall, there are still options to experience all that autumn has to offer.

Travel Agents are still busy planning fall vacations and AAA has ideas on where travelers can venture.

From Europe to New York and even the Land of Enchantment, there are many beautiful sights to be seen.

Doug Shupe with AAA joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss travel options. Watch above.

According to a new AAA survey, four out of 10 Americans would consider a river cruise for an upcoming vacation. River cruising offers travelers a different experience than and ocean cruise. It offers exploration of multiple destinations in comfort and luxury. Some examples Shupe gave were Europe, Southeast Asia and Russia.

Those looking to stay a little closer to home are suggested to experience the Grand Canyon Railway or Asheville, North Carolina, which is nestled between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Niagara Falls is also one of the world’s most famous travel destinations with its 182 foot falls on the border of the U.S. and Canada.

Those who may not have the time to travel far distances can stay right here in New Mexico and enjoy the dramatic landscape of red and yellow cliffs at the Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu or check out the states super volcano in Valles Caldera.
