ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As friends get ready for the funeral of a mom and daughter killed in a horrific murder-suicide, the community gathered to remember them in a vigil.
Earlier this month, police found 11-year-old Nhi Nguyen and her mom, Cam Thi To shot to death in their northwest Albuquerque apartment.
Police say To’s husband killed them and then turned the gun on himself. The family moved to New Mexico just a few months ago, but their opportunity for a new life was cut short.
“It’s through these vigils that people learn it’s OK to speak up, and to take a stand,” Tracy Fabre, co-organizer. “I hope we do that before more children die.”
The gathering took place at Monzano Mesa Rec Center near Eubank and Southern.
