John’s Wednesday Afternoon Forecast

Dealing with Newton...

Newton has now been downgraded to a Tropical Storm as it moves into southern Arizona. Newton will continue to lose strength as it turns into New Mexico later today, but will still deliver widespread heavy rainfall, especially across the west. Through the rest of today and tonight, we’ll have to see how well Newton can hold together as it crosses the topography of the Gila. Newton will likely lose a lot of strength as it moves into central New Mexico. This will mean areas like Albuquerque can expect more scattered showers as opposed to widespread, consistent rainfall.

As Newton crosses into the eastern part of the state Thursday, it will be chased out by drier air. The west will start to see clearing skies by the afternoon and the skies will continue to clear toward the east late Thursday. Sunny skies and mild temperatures will take hold across the state for Friday and the upcoming weekend!
