Local shop hosts charity run for Louisiana flooding victims

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local running shop is organizing a 5k run to help victims of the flooding in Louisiana.

The Bosque Running Shop and the Albuquerque Road Runners are organizing the event.

Over the last couple of weeks, 60,000 homes have been destroyed by flooding in Louisiana.

The owner of the “Bosque Running Shop”, who attended Louisiana State University, says Louisiana is a special place for him.

“I always feel like people always find a way when someone is down to try and help them so I believe our community will be able to help the people of Louisiana,” said Likhaya Dayila.

The 5k is Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

It starts at the Bosque Running Shop near Coors and Montano.

There is no entry fee. People just need to show up and make a donation or donate running shoes.
