UNM is adding sand volleyball to its list of collegiate sports.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- UNM Volleyball started off day 2 of the UNM Tournament with an upset loss in 5 sets to Idaho (3-2), but the team topped off their opening weekend with a dominant performance against Fairfield in their 2nd match on Saturday. They swept Fairfield in 3 sets placing them in second place at the UNM Invitational.

“I really challenged them to come back tonight (after Idaho), get after it and play with more energy, and we let some of our freshman play tonight. Three of them played a lot and I thought they did a really good job”, said UNM Volleyball Coach Jeff Nelson.

The Lobos will now head to Florida for the USF Tournament, starting on September 2nd against Stetson at 9 am.
