DURANT, MS (KRQE) – The man police said killed two Mississippi nuns, confessed Saturday.
Rodney Earl Sanders is charged with two counts of capital murder. He killed Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill, both 68.
Their bodies were discovered Thursday after they failed to show up for work at a clinic in Lexington, Mississippi, about 10 miles from their home.
“They actually spent their entire lives serving the community here. I’m sure our community is grieving,” said Assistant Police Chief James Lee.
A wake is scheduled at St. Thomas Church in Lexington where the women led a Bible study. Monday, there will be a mass in Jackson.
