Freya’s Lair: Therapeutic uses for Botox

You may be familiar with Botox when it comes to cosmetic applications, however Botox can be used for therapeutic purposes as well, helping people find relief for chronic – often painful conditions.

Olga Lucero, Owner of Freya’s Lair stopped by New Mexico Living to explain not only the cosmetic, but the therapeutic benefits to Botox.

“It can be used for TMJ. A lot of people have that problem and it can be applied to the muscles right here [points to jaw] to relax the muscles so you don’t clench your teeth at night.” Lucero says, explaining the medical and pain-relieving application of Botox.

Lucero also says that with the right application, Botox can reshape the face, restoring its natural oval shape, which can be lost after years of teeth clenching.

Botox can also eliminate the over-sweating that can occur for people who deal with chronic sweating problems.
As a complete spa, Freya’s Lair offers massages such as deep tissue and Swedish and customized facials as well as injection treatments for ‘spider veins’ on the legs.
