What began as an arcane metaphysical experiment among a small group of poets and writers in the 1920s has become ubiquitous throughout world culture.
Surrealism isn’t just about melting clocks and dismembered bowler hats – it’s an artistic movement which taps into the subconscious and gives representation to the innermost workings of the human condition.
‘The Surrealists Don’t Mind’ is coming up at Albuquerque’s 606 Gallery and running for one month, starting early September.
The exhibition and the artwork represented within the showing is a celebration of the more modern interpretation of surrealism as it continues to live today.
The artists showcasing their work say that their idea of surrealism is like, ‘a steady stream of consciousness’ like verbalism spilled onto canvas – more or less.
