ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – UFC fighter Jon “Bones” Jones may be cleared of doping allegations.
On Tuesday, UFC President Dana White said it looks like Jones did not take the drug everyone thought he did.
Jones took a hit to his wallet and reputation when the doping allegations first surfaced just as he prepared to get back into the octagon. Jones was dropped from the championship fight against Daniel Cormier in UFC 200 the same week of the card.
The United States Anti-Doping Agency said Jones tested positive for clomiphene and letrozole: two banned substances usually used to mask steroid use.
Jones denied using the supplements.
Tuesday, what Dana White had to say to radio talk show host Jim Rome seems back up Jones’ claim. White also told Rome that Jones did make a mistake in not telling USADA about all the supplements he had taken. On his Instagram account over the weekend, Jones said that he had a lot of good news and expected to be back in the octagon soon.
Court records show he hasn’t registered for aggressive driver school, which he was required to do as part of his sentence for a recent drag racing case. Jones’ management team says they’ve registered him for the class.
