ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Reno Henderson is entering his senior year a leader on this Lobo offensive Line. There were a lot of questions about this line that was plagued with injury last year, is filling spots this year with juco players, and even has a new coach in Saga Tuitele.
Henderson says that the entire line is starting to pick up on Tuitele’s was as the Offensive Line/running game coordinator. “We are getting it pretty good. With the new coach and the new stuff we running it is a little different, so it will take a little time, but these last few days its looked way better than previous ones. So, I am excited to see the running backs pop and go for 80 like that cause it’s less work on me honestly. I am excited for the new offense we going to put up a lot of points on people”, said Reno Henderson.
Reno has proven his merit as a leader on this offensive line after a great season in 2015. It’s crazy to think that Henderson started off on the defensive side of the ball in high school, and almost quit the game entirely after a coaching change in high school moved him to left tackle.
“He just threw me over there and I almost quit, after that first year but I stuck it out. I guess I played out of anger and it made me really good and now it’s just like walking to me”, said Henderson.
The Lobos will hold practices open to the public again on Monday at 9:45 am.
