ALBUQUERQU, N.M. (KRQE)- New Mexico YAFL celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday at Bull Head Park in Albuquerque. It was an event that celebrated the past 49 years of this leagues existence, and the future.

“They had a vision to bring a league to Albuquerque and we continue to honor that league and make it grow and continue to be strong”, said 2016 YAFL President Chad Whitaker.

The numbers of kids joining YAFL has remained the same coming into this season, even with all the recent concern of football and concussions.

“I want everybody to know that football is the safest it has been in decades all coaches are USA heads up certified they have to be or they cannot coach”, said Whitaker.
