Stage: On The Twentieth Century

The Adobe Theater is gearing up to host a concert version of ‘On the Twentieth Century’. Part operetta, part comedy, part farce, and part ‘screwball’ comedy which features some of the best voices in the Duke City. The proceeds from this limited engagement performance will go to the Matthew Naegeli Scholarship Program.

From the Adobe Theater: “About two years ago, a much beloved, incredibly talented, and far too young member of the Albuquerque theatre community, Matthew Naegeli, was killed in a car accident. Kari Reese and Hal Simons, Executive and Artistic Directors of ABQStages/The Growing Stage, respectively, decided to start The Matthew Naegeli Scholarship Program.”

The original stage production of ‘On the Twentieth Century” was done in 1978 and revived on Broadway last year with Kristen Chenowith and Peter Gallagher. The show is based on the 1930’s film of the same title starring John Barrymore and Carol Lombard.
