Community Calendar: New Day’s 6th Annual Benefit Concert

At any given time within the city of Albuquerque, there are over 6,000 homeless youth.

The New Day 6th Annual Benefit Concert with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, happens tonight and tickets are still available.

The mission of New Day Youth and Family Services is to engage troubled youth and their families, help them chart a proactive life course. They have been a part of the community since 1976 and were the first crisis-shelter in the state. Now they have shifted into being not only a crisis-shelter, but a “safe-home” as well.

The organization offers a Life Skills Academy, case workers and case managers, counselors on staff, along with a specialized program for youth age 17-22 to help them transition into productive adulthood.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is Derrick Trucks, the former lead guitarist from the Allman Brother’s Band, alongside his wife, Susan Tedeschi (an amazing solo performer) who together, has assembled a 12-piece band with older soulful-style music. Everyone performing on their stage is a solid musician in their own right.
