Annual benefit gears up to provide free back-to school-haircuts

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A non-profit organization that truly supports its community is throwing their annual event.

In 2014, Dream Big host their annual benefit called “Kutz 4 Kidz.” Six thousand children were able to get free back to school haircuts. Each hairdresser and barber that participated in the event worked for free and styled out the children’s hair however they wanted it.

Founder, Kevin Banks, joined KRQE This Morning to discuss the event and talk about why he does this each year. He says that it is important to him that children return to school feeling confident. Watch above.

It’s not only haircuts that Banks provide. School supplies are gifted to the children along with backpacks and medical exams for underprivileged children.

This year’s event is full of activities, from youth entertainers to a car show, there is something for everyone.

The Kutz 4 Kids main event is being held on Sunday, August 7 at Expo New Mexico in the Villa Hispana.
