ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)- Judge Chavez retired from coaching three years ago and never thought he would get back into coaching, but then an opening came up and he is now back coaching at Valley High School.
“I wasn’t quite sure if I was interested, you know I did for 34 years and I thought maybe I have done my time and just like the saying in Scarface just when I thought I was out they pulled me back in. But just coming back to my old school, it was the only job I would ever go back to,” said Coach Judge Chavez.
He takes over Valley Viking team that went 3-7 last year, but he is ready to implement back his style of football and help these young men grow into adults.
“I want to come here and be successful and we are going to work hard to do that, but we just want to work on the things we can control. We need to be a very disciplined football team, and we feel if we do that, that will give us a great opportunity to win some football games,” said Chavez.
The Vikings start out there season at Community Stadium against Volcano Vista. Kick off for that game is 1 p.m. on August 27.
