Eastdale All-Stars hope to make history

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s been 60 years since a team from New Mexico has been to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. The last was a team from Roswell that actually won the entire thing. This Majors All-Star Team believes they have what it takes to make it to the main stage.

“I think this tournament is easily winnable and I think that we have the pitching, the hitting, and the team to do this,” said Eastdale player Alex Gaeto.

This team is coming off of an undefeated performance at the State Tournament, where they outscored their opponents 59-3 and hit 24 home runs. They also bring a strong pitching staff that goes seven deep and they think that they can compete in the Southwest Regional in Waco, Texas.

“We have an opportunity to break a trend and that is our goal. We talk about it every day, we are not going for the experience at regionals, we are going to win the tournament and we absolutely believe that we can,” said Head Coach Ed Gaeto.

The Team leaves for Waco this week, but are holding fundraising events to help with costs.

Buffalo Wild Wings- on Montgomery and Wyoming will be airing the game and also are donating 20 percent of their proceeds to the team for travel expenses.
