Isotopes continue to streak in season second half

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Isotopes ended the first half of the season with three consecutive wins. The team has returned after the All Star break and has not missed a beat.

Rain postponed the Isotopes and Nashville Sounds from starting a four game set Monday. The teams got their opportunity Tuesday night, playing a double header.

The Isotopes started game one with two ones in each of the first two innings. Tom Murphy’s RBI double got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning.

A Mike Tauchman RBI double and Alex Castellanos solo home run would help the Isotopes build an early four to nothing lead. The Isotopes would not hang on to that advantage and would need a three run rally in the sixth inning to beat the Sounds 7-5.

The Isotopes also won game two 5-3 to get a doubleheader sweep and tie the team record of nine consecutive wins. At one point during the season, the Isotopes struggled through a 13 game losing streak. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
