Bear sightings continue in Los Alamos

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – The bear problem continues in Los Alamos.

Tuesday, a picture of a bear dining at a dumpster at LANL was sent to KRQE News 13. When a garbage truck came by, it hopped on top. The driver took off with the bear in tow.

The lab has been urging employees to be cautious around dumpsters since there have been several bear encounters there.

They are also telling employees to be vigilant near the Pajarito Plateau and Jemez Mountains.

This comes after a runner was attacked earlier this month in the Valles Caldera. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
