ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man who led police on a chase Tuesday was in court on Wednesday.

In court, KRQE News 13 learned just dangerous that chase got. It started with someone reported him possibly taking a woman and infant against their will.

Police say Northrup then drove all the way on I-40 to the Tijeras exit, turned around and drove the wrong way on I-40 to Juan Tabo, nearly hitting police cruisers head-on.

The chase ended at Northrup’s mom’s house. The woman inside the vehicle was his girlfriend and the infant, his son.

The girlfriend says this all started because of road rage with another driver.

Northrup told police he was scared to go back to jail because he had snitched on a bandido gang member.

He is now back in jail charged with child abuse, aggravated assault on an officer and kidnapping. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
