Crews work to extinguish 3 acre fire in Jemez Springs

JEMEZ, N.M. (KRQE)  – A new fire was reported burning close to the road in Jemez Wednesday afternoon.

The Monastery Fire has burned three acres of brush behind homes on Sandoval Lane, according to the Sandoval County Fire Chief.

Fire officials say the fire’s progression has been stopped and approximately 20 personnel remain on site.

Resources are continuing line construction, targeting interior hot spots and mop up.
