UNM Health Science Center set to expand drug development

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMHSC) has been invited to join in with the leading edge of drug discovery and development in the fight against cancer.

The invitation was brought on by the Chemical Biology Consortium, the discovery engine for the NCI Experimental Therapeutics program. This program takes interesting drug projects and moves them from the early phases of drug discovery through drug development and into clinical trial.

Dr. Larry Sklar, a distinguished professor in the Department of Pathology at the UNM School of Medicine, joined KRQE’s This Morning crew to discuss the program and the union. Watch above.

UNMHSC was awarded a $375,000 subcontract. This subcontract will cover infrastructure and project costs incurred as part of the consortium.
