Rio Rancho community holds event in memory of Ashlynne Mike

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE)– The Rio Rancho community hosted an event Saturday morning in memory of 11-year-old Ashlynne Mike.

Ashlynne and her brother were kidnapped back in May as they were walking home from school.

Her brother got away, Ashlynne’s body was found the next day near the Shiprock Monument.

Saturday the community of Rio Rancho wanted to show their support by hosting a coffee and cars benefit cruise.

Cars cruised through Rio Rancho and a reception was held at Mariposa Community Park.

A check of about a thousand dollars was also presented to Ashlynne’s family.
