ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– A repeat criminal is accused of breaking into a vehicle but the driver wasn’t going to let him get away with it.
This is 29-year-old Tommy Velasquez’s third arrest in two months.
APD says around 2 p-m Friday he burglarized a man’s work van outside the Sidelines Bar and Grill on Coors near Paseo.
Velasquez was attempting to steal a wallet and a knife when the victim and his friends showed up and chased Velasquez down.
After a fight, police showed up and they got the wallet back.
Police took Valasquez to the hospital and then to jail.
He’s also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon because the victim says he threatened him with a knife.
