Durango, Chama compete in 'Best Train Rides in America' contest

(KRQE) – Does Durango or Chama have the best train ride in America? That’s something you get to decide.

The Cumbres and Toltec Railway, and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are competing for USA Today’s “10 Best Train Rides in America.”

Right now, the Cumbres is in first place, Durango Silverton is in second. Both trains were built in the 1880’s.

The Cumbres takes riders between Chama and Antonito, Colorado. The Durango Silverton takes riders between those two towns both winding through the San Juan Mountains.

Voting runs through July 18th.
