UNM hosts cancer research summit

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Researchers from around the world gathered at UNM Wednesday to talk about cancer research in New Mexico.

It’s part of the National Cancer Moonshot Summit hosted by Vice President Joe Biden in Washington D.C.

Biden outlined several initiatives to double the war against cancer like speeding up cancer research and treatment.

A panel of scientists discussed bringing the newest and most advanced treatments to the state.

Biden also threatened to cut federal funding for cancer studies that don’t submit results on time.
