Accused Carjacking Suspects Face Felony Charges
Police say the two men behind a chaotic scene in Los Lunas now face felony charges. The alleged victim is still shaken. It all started at the Smith’s in Edgewood, when Rob Helton had just loaded groceries into his Corvette. That’s when Helton says one of the men put a gun to his face and told him to get out of the car. Los Lunas police spotted the stolen Corvette a few hours later on highway 6. The driver sped up, crashing into other cars. When officers approach the Corvette to arrest the driver he backed up toward them. Police say the driver, 24-year-old Dakota Cook, then started shooting at officers. Officers say they returned fire, hitting one of the suspects. They finally catch up with Cook and 28-year-old Sheliky Sanchez down I-25. One officer was injured in the hand. The suspect shot is expected to be okay.

Treasure Hunter Arrested
One Nevada man believes he’s found the legendary Fenn treasure, the $2 million in gold and coins Santa Fe antiquities dealer Forrest Fenn claims to have hidden away. The problem is, he believes that treasure is Fenn’s adult granddaughter. Santa Fe police say 46-year-old Francisco “Paco” Chavez has been sending messages to the woman, even visiting Santa Fe several times to search for her. He was released on bond after pleading not guilty to a charge of stalking, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.
