WEDNESDAY: A day similar to Tuesday with plenty of sunshine and warm temperature statewide. Expect afternoon highs to top out in the 80s, 90s and triple digits in most areas – a good 3-5° warmer than yesterday. Southwest winds will increase this afternoon with speeds reaching 15-25mph across western and central NM – stronger winds (+20mph) are expected over the Eastern Plains. A bit more moisture creeping in over the far southeast will allow a handful of storms to develop over Eddy, Chaves and Lea County. Coverage will be limited… but some of these storms will have the potential to be strong to severe as it nears and crosses the NM/TX stateline.
THURSDAY: A repeat day of Wednesday with a few isolated storms possible within the southeastern corner of the state. We’ll see a lot more sunshine than storms. Afternoon temperatures will once again climb above average with most topping out well into the 80s, 90s and low 100s.
FRIDAY: Ever warmer! High temperatures will warm into the mid- to upper 90s across the Rio Grande Valley. Sunshine and light winds will be the story statewide.
