ALBUQUERQUE,N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police have revealed the blood test results for a suspected drunk driver in a chilling crash on Interstate 40 in February.
Georgette Vigil had a blood alcohol level of .31, nearly four times the legal limit of .08. She’s accused of wrecking her SUV on I-40 near Wyoming. A little girl, not even two years old, flew from Vigil’s SUV in her car seat. According to police, Vigil took off, leaving the child on the shoulder of the busy interstate.
APD caught up with Vigil at her apartment, as officers were looking for answers about what happened.
“I don’t know. To tell you the truth, I really don’t know,” she told one officer in lapel video obtained by KRQE News 13.
“How much did you drink today?” an officer asked. She replied, “A pint.”
Another daughter was with her in the SUV. The child left on the highway was not seriously injured. Vigil currently has lost custody of her children.
She’s charged with aggravated DUI, child abuse, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Her trial is scheduled for November.
