Notah Begay III Grande Slam Tournament to benefit New Mexico youth

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Four time PGA Tour winner and golf analyst Notah Begay III continues to assist in the fight against Native American childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes through his NB3 Foundation. He is hoping to raise more funds to help with that fight in the Inagural New Mexico Grande Slam Charity Golf Tournament.

“Three years ago we haven’t made much investment in this health issue,” said Begay III. “Right now we’ve made over 2.3 million dollars of investment in over 50 communities across the country, a lot of that here in New Mexico.”

Begay announced the August 19th tournament Wednesday. The event will take place at Santa Ana Golf Club. “We are really learning how to evaluate and also make smart placement of our dollar,” said Begay III. “That is what is going to happen with this event. We are going to raise a lot of money and hopefully we are going to distribute it back to a handful of charities that are doing great work.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
