Did you know there are over 4,000 homeless students in Albuquerque Public Schools?
Many families experience unemployment, job changes or other circumstances that result in the loss of a permanent home which can cause families, APS students, to live in transitional homes, shelters, motels, cars, abandoned buildings or other uncomfortable accommodations.
Those students rely on provided snack packs to eat at night or on the weekends.
The trauma of homelessness and poverty wreaks havoc on the academic progress of children and youth in school.
Let’s show we care, Albuquerque Cares and #KRQEcares
Join in, and help collect non-perishable food items for students that may not have a consistent source of food.
By dropping off your food items at any Albuquerque Smith’s Grocery Store, you can help in providing a nourished meal for APS kids.
With your donations KRQE News, Smith’s and you, are joining forces to help the APS Title 1 Homeless Project and APS kids.
