Lapel video shows toddler rescue after alleged DWI crash

Newly released lapel video shows the moments after a suspected DWI crash left a two year old critically injured. APD says 29-year-old Erica Garcia was drunk when she crashed her car near mountain and I-25 last Saturday. Her car flipped and went 15 feet into air, then landed on its roof. The two year old child with Garcia suffered life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told officers that Garcia had been driving erratically before the crash and that they found alcohol in the car. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get the toddler out of the car. Garcia and the child are both still in the hospital. Garcia is expected to face DWI and child abuse charges when she’s discharged.

Police arrest Albuquerque teen in fatal hit-and-run

A 14-year-old boy is facing an open count of murder. Albuquerque police say he killed a man by hitting him with an SUV. 14-year-old Matthew Jaramillo is accused of killing 46-year-old Richard Sisneros. A criminal complaint indicates Jaramillo was driving this stolen SUV last Friday. It says he drove to an apartment complex on Virginia near Wyoming to ditch it. Jaramillo says he tried, but Sisneros was in his way, so he ran him over. It was caught on surveillance. According to the complaint, Jaramillo dragged Sisneros down the street trying to get him off the SUV. Sisneros died the next morning.

Home invasion in southwest Albuquerque

An Albuquerque man is recovering after a violent home invasion. APD says two suspects wearing masks forced their way into a family’s southwest Albuquerque home, Friday. Police say the family was there. The homeowner told police the suspects demanded his car keys. Officers say he tried fighting them off, but the suspects shot him twice. neighbors say they awoke to screaming. Police say it’s unclear whether the homeowner knew the suspects. He is expected to be okay. Police say the two suspects made off with the family’s 2011 Dodge Avenger.
