NM State Parks host Memorial Weekend events

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The whole month of May was dedicated to visiting beautiful places around the state.

New Mexico State Parks are hosting fun events from tours to art activities with nature themes.

Those looking to get a jump start on Memorial Day weekend have a few options.

Heron Lake, Los Ojos is hosting a Lake Dam Tour Friday, May 27 from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m.

The guided tour is of the inner workings of the Heron Lake Dam and an elevator ride 265 feet into the pump room.

On Saturday, May 28, Heron Lake is also hosting weekly art activities based on nature themes.

Angel Fire is also hosting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Candlelight Vigil on Sunday, May 29 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

This is solemn event for Memorial Day Weekend. The evening features the Missing Man Ceremony and a speaker from Gold Star Wives.
