ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Charles Reardon calls himself an avid golfer but, he never expected to walk away from a golf fundraiser with a new vehicle.
Reardon made a hole in one at the annual Lobo Golf Tournament a couple of weeks ago.
“I had 46 years without a hole in one and I finally got my first one four years ago,” said Reardon. “This one was just unbelievable. So I called my wife from the golf course and said I think I am going to be a little bit late tonight. She said, ‘oh that’s fine.’ I said I hit a hole in one. She said, ‘no way. I can’t believe it.’ I said I won a car. The one timer on the third hole earned him a $73,000 Range Rover.”
The 50-year-old Reardon said it was the second hole in one in his life but, this one was better. The one prior didn’t have a prize. In fact, he said he was stuck with buying drinks for his buddies.
Reardon has had success on the golf course in the past. In 1978, he was a state champion for Albuquerque High. He also won a state senior amateur title. Perhaps showing signs of aging, he said he believed that win was in 2011.
