Brandon Mason and J.R. Giddens visit Van Tate’s Sports Office

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Brandon Mason and J.R. Giddens are in Van Tate’s Sports Office this week. A common topic between the two is the upcoming, “Battle of the Rio Grande”, basketball game.

The game will feature Lobo Alumni against Aggie Alumni June 25th at WisePies Arena AKA The Pit.

“You hear someone from the Aggies say I can’t wait to play against J.R. Giddens. I owe him one,” said Mason.

The rivalry still runs deep. “Actually saw Jonathan Gibson in Vegas this past week and we exchanged some words,” said Giddens. “We exchanged some words with a smile.” Giddens is a former Lobo who was a first round pick of the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Draft.

This past season the 31-year-old played in Argentina where he made the All Star team. Mason is a former Aggies basketball player who also happens to be a Lobo assistant. He helped to organize the game. Mason was an assistant coach at NMSU last season and recently left for UNLV to be an assistant under new head coach Marvin Menzies. Mason and Giddens talk about their lives and the future in the Sports Office.
