Prison gang member dies in Albuquerque motorcycle crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – A member of the Syndicato de Nuevo Mexico prison gang wanted by federal authorities has died in a motorcycle crash in Albuquerque.

The FBI says 40-year-old Leroy Torrez was wanted for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Albuquerque police say Torrez was riding a stolen motorcycle at a high rate of speed Friday when he lost control and went through the fence of a business.

Police say Torrez died at the scene.

Federal, state and local authorities arrested 19 members of the prison gang last month on various charges.
