ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An entire season worth of festivities are ready to start in Albuquerque’s Old Town with the Summertime Stroll and the Santa Cruz de Mayo celebration. Both events will be taking place back to back on Saturday, May 21.
The Summertime Stroll brings together live entertainment, food trucks, established restaurants in the area and merchant shopping in the hopes of introducing more locals to the oldest part of Albuquerque. All the entertainment runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For a complete look at the lineup and more information on the Summertown Stroll, you can visit the City of Albuquerque website.
The second major event taking place on Saturday is the Santa Cruz de Mayo celebration. This is put on by the Filipino-American Foundation to promote a traditional celebration that takes place in the month of May. The entire celebration has strong religious ties and will be kicked off at 4 p.m. with a Catholic Mass at the San Felipe de Neri Church on the plaza.
According to organizers, this is also the 39th year that this celebration will be taking place in Albuquerque. Everything is scheduled to last until 8 p.m. and the event is free for the entire family.
