New Mexico father charged with killing man who allegedly kissed 7-year-old

ARTESIA, N.M. (KRQE) – An Artesia father is facing murder charges for killing a man he says kissed and made inappropriate comments about his 7-year-old son.

Greg Valenzuela is accused of stabbing Adrian Acosta to death inside a relative’s house on Monday.

He and the boy say Acosta kissed him then told him he was beautiful. That’s when family members say Valenzuela attacked, stabbing Acosta over and over again while the 7-year-old boy and others watched.

Detectives say at first Valenzuela lied about what happened and laughed it off and then told detectives he was defending his son and questioned what detectives would do in that situation.

He’s facing an open count of murder. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
