New Mexicans mourn the loss of well known artist

ALBUQUERQUE N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexicans are mourning the loss of artist Betty Sabo.

You may not know her name, but you have likely seen her work.

Among Sabo’s sculptures, the Saint Francis of Assisi at the Basilica in Santa Fe.

She also worked on the Don Juan De Onate sculptures outside the Albuquerque Museum, the recently installed sculptures at Tingley Beach and so many more.

Betty was well known at UNM she served on the UNM Alumni Board and won the Zimmerman Award in 1998.

Betty died Tuesday night at the age of 87.
