FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) – Authorities say an arrest has been made in a murder case in Farmington last year.

Farmington police say 32-year-old Timothy Serrano was taken into custody Tuesday.

He’s being held at the San Juan County Detention Center under a $750,000 cash bond on suspicion of an open count of murder and tampering with evidence.

Serrano is a Farmington resident. It’s unclear if Serrano has a lawyer yet.

Police were called out last Sept. 14 to the Rimrock Inn and found the body of 62-year-old Dalton Ford on the floor in one of the rooms.

Authorities still haven’t released details of the homicide case.

Police say their investigation still is ongoing. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
