ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman accused of leaving her 2-year-old on the freeway after a DWI crash says she’s been working to become a better parent. Georgette Vigil appeared in court Tuesday where a judge set a tentative November trial date.

Her attorney told the judge she’s been working with CYFD.

Vigil is charged with felony child abuse after taking off after her daughter flew out of her SUV on I-40.

Witnesses say she was weaving all over and hit the center barrier. Vigil didn’t realize her daughter was gone until she got back to her apartment. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
