Santa Fe moves forward with pedestrian underpass plans

Santa Fe Pedestrian Underpass Rendering

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city of Santa Fe is moving forward with a pedestrian and bicycle underpass and by the looks of it, it’s going to be pretty fancy. The crossing will be under Saint Francis Drive near Cerrillos Road.

A city council committee approved several bids for construction Monday. An artist rendering shows what it might look like, which includes a light sculpture.

Counselors say most of the $5 million project is being paid for with federal funds.

The underpass will connect the Acequia Trail to the Railyard Park. The full city council must still approve the project. If they do construction could start this summer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
