Lou Henson hired as Special Advisor for Aggies Basketball

Lou Henson named to Collegiate Basketball HOF

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Lou Henson is getting back in the game, sort of.

The Hall of Fame coach and former NMSU Aggies head man has been hired by the school to be a special advisor to new head coach Paul Weir. Henson said he is elated. He also said that he and Weir are on the same page.

Weir was very complimentary when talking about Henson and said, ” To be able to lean on him is an opportunity I simply was not going to let slip away.”

No one racked up more wins then Henson at NMSU and Illinois. He was a head coach for 41 years and posted a record of 719-412. Weir was hired in April to replace Marvin Menzies.

Menzies left the Aggies for the head men’s basketball job at UNLV after spending nine seasons in Las Cruces.
