ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s been two months since Albuquerque’s own Holly Holm lost her UFC Bantamweight Title to Miesha Tate by submission. Holly has been eagerly waiting for her next fight, and while this fight was already in the works, the UFC finally made it official that she will fight Valentina Shevchenko.
Shevchenko is another top competitor in the Bantamweight Division. She holds a 12-2 MMA record, also coming off a loss on March 5th to Amanda Nunez. Nunez is the fighter fighting Miesha Tate in her first title defense.
Holly holds a very impressive 10-1 MMA record, and this bout with Shevchenko could catapult her back into title contention. This fight should play more to Holly’s strengths as Shevchenko herself is also a striker.
This bout will be July 23rd in Chicago. Holm will once again be the headliner on this UFC Fight Night Fight Card.
