(CNN) – A new study links a dangerous chemical from plastics to fast foods.
While most of us is aware that fast food is not the healthiest option, a new study is raising new concerns. The Centers for Disease Control found people who eat a lot of fast have higher levels of hormone disruptors in their system.
It is because some of the chemicals used in food packaging and processing can seep into what you are eating.
This hormone disruptor can cause infertility and it has been linked to problems in children who were exposed in the womb. These problems include, reduced IQ and behavioral issues. It can also increase diabetes in women and children.
The National Restaurant Association and the American Chemistry Council are working together to review the study, they say say the chemical levels found are “well below” the levels the environmental protection agency deem likely to increase health risk.
CDC researchers argue the EPA’s set limit is outdated.
