ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Thousands of Native American are awaiting their big Grand Entry to this year’s three day event jammed packed with events.
The Gathering Of Nations is the world’s largest gathering of Native American and indigenous people.
Over 3,000 dancers and 800 artisans, craftsmen and traders are taking over the Wise Pise Arena aka The Pit for the 33rd Annual gathering.
From The Miss Indian World Pageant to performances, food and even a children’s book drive there is something for everyone at this event.
Lupe Tellez with the Aztec Fire Dancers and the only female Grizzly Bear dancer in the world, Laura Grizzlypaws, joined KRQE’s This Morning team Monday to discuss their upcoming performances to look out for at the event. Watch above.
The powwow began Thursday, April 28 and will be non-stop through Sunday, April 30.
