Surviving family of Cowboy Eddy has been found

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– The family of Cowboy Eddy has been found.

We brought you the story Thursday of Edward Hartman II, known to his friends and family as Cowboy Eddy.

He died in December 2002 at the age of 22.

Near 2nd Street and Prosperity a descanso was put up in his memory. It’s quite the descanso complete with a cowboy hat, vintage cars and figurines, but that memorial is now in the middle of a construction project.

The county tried desperately to find his family so they could move it but has been unsuccessful until recently.

The family saw our story Thursday night.

His father lives in Kansas City, and will work with the county to preserve the descanso.
