John’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

Here comes the wind...

It will be a warm end to the week with afternoon highs reaching the upper 70s to near 80° in Albuquerque. Some moisture will sneak into western New Mexico. Combine that with daytime heating, and we’ll have a good shot at a few showers and storms, especially for areas west of I-25.

A storm system will pass north of the state Saturday. We could pick up a couple of mountain showers across Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, but the bigger story will be the wind. Expect gusts up to 40 mph by Saturday afternoon.

The winds back off Sunday, but another storm passes north early next week, bringing yet another round of wind. Temperatures will also cool down for the middle of next week.
